Course details

This 2 hour online evening course will provide the foundational neuroscience of sleep in infancy, specifically adapted for manual therapists.

It builds upon existing knowledge by exploring the fundamental differences between adult and infant sleep quality and needs.

The course will reveal the multidirectional relationship between resting and feeding within the mother-infant dyad and family dynamics.

This workshop also proposes a framework and practical solutions to support this critical need across various contexts.

Learning objectives/outcomes:

·       Distinguish the neurobiological differences between infant and adult sleep, including developmental sleep architecture and regulation.

·       Explain the bidirectional relationship between sleep and feeding in the mother-infant dyad, considering physiological and behavioural factors.

·       Identify critical factors impacting infant sleep quality and family dynamics, with an emphasis on environmental and psychosocial influences.

·       Apply evidence-based frameworks to assess and support sleep health in infants within diverse clinical and family contexts.

Integrate practical strategies for manual therapists to collaborate with families in optimizing infant sleep and parent well-being
