Course details
This exciting CPD is designed for all registered health care professionals with interest in the evolving field of fertility ultrasound. Delegates will develop an appreciation of the role of ultrasound within fertility treatment and care. Participants will have the opportunity to identify ultrasound anatomy and pathology and explore interesting cases that have been encountered within fertility. MIS Ultrasound will discuss the latest technological advancements within fertility ultrasound and explore the critiquing of ultrasound equipment.
- Develop an appreciation of the role of ultrasound in fertility treatment and care.
- Enable participants to understand the requirements of fertility ultrasound and identify basic anatomy/pathology that may be encountered.
- Facilitate group discussions, reflection and networking to share thoughts on the future of fertility ultrasound.
- Critique ultrasound equipment and the latest technological advancements within fertility ultrasound.

Course leaders:
Farrah Elsaghir
Farrah is the course lead for the MSc MU and MSc MSK MU programmes and is also the CPD and Short Course Lead at HSU. Her specialist interests include HyCoSy, SIS, gynaecology, obstetrics, abdominal and testicular ultrasound. She holds an MSc in Medical Ultrasound and a PgCert Higher Education. In addition to her roles at HSU, Farrah still works clinically in the NHS as an Advanced Practitioner Sonographer and has a keen interest in professional issues and practice education. Farrah is a member of the BMUS Professional Standards Group, BMUS Practice Education Specialist Interest Group and is an External Examiner for UWE.
Megan Hawthorn
Megan is an advanced clinical and academic sonographer. She holds an MSc in Medical Ultrasound and divides her time between practicing clinically at Salisbury Hospital and her role as a Lecturer at Health Sciences University (HSU). At HSU, Megan leads the MSc Breast Imaging programme and oversees the obstetric units within the MSc Medical Ultrasound course. Her specialist interests span breast, obstetric, and gynaecological ultrasound. Promoting knowledge exchange, she is dedicated to blending clinical expertise to high-quality education and contributing to the development of future ultrasound practitioners through research-led teaching and curriculum leadership.
Dr Trevor Wing
Dr.Trevor Wing is a recognised specialist in the treatment of female health conditions, with particular interest in infertility. Trevor runs a busy private clinic in London where he carries out clinical research studies and treats a wide range of gynaecological and obstetric conditions including infertility, Trevor holds an MSc in obstetrics and gynaecology diagnostic ultrasound and a doctorate in medical imaging. Trevor regularly lectures at post graduate level on gynaecology and obstetrics medical imaging at several universities in Europe and the USA. Trevor regularly contributes to professional journals with papers on his own research and treatment approaches and is a peer reviewer for the journals “Human Fertility”, "Complementary Therapies in Medicine” and “Reproductive Biomedicine Online”. Trevor is also an honorary research fellow at the University of Portsmouth and a lecturer in gynaecology, obstetrics and breast imaging at the Health Sciences University in Bournemouth and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine.
