11 CPD Hours

This two-day CPD seminar provides clinicians with an in-depth and evidence-based exploration of hypertension and chest/back pain in a primary-contact setting. Through structured teaching, case-based discussions, and hands-on training, including the use of medical simulators, participants will review and refine their skills in recognising time-sensitive cardiovascular and respiratory conditions, differentiating musculoskeletal from visceral pain presentations, and identifying red flags that require urgent referral. The seminar integrates pathophysiology, epidemiology, clinical features of serious conditions, and practical mastery of blood pressure and pulse pressure measurement, cardiovascular examination, and respiratory examination routines. Emphasis is placed on diagnostic safety and effective clinical reasoning to support decision-making within chiropractic and multidisciplinary practice.

Seminar aims, objectives and learning outcomes:

  • To provide a comprehensive understanding of the physiology, epidemiology, and clinical significance of hypertension and chest pain.
  • To enhance clinicians’ ability to safely assess and differentiate between musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, and respiratory causes of chest and back pain.
  • To develop practical competence in blood pressure and pulse pressure measurement interpretation, cardiovascular examination, and respiratory examination following standardised clinical routines.
  • To promote evidence-based, patient-centred reasoning in first-contact clinical settings.
