Prerequisites

  • Applicants will need Maths and English at GCSE Grade 4 (C) or equivalent
  • Minimum of 48 UCAS points, from at least one of the following: A Levels, T Levels, BTEC Nationals, Access to Higher Education Diploma, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualifications.

English as a second language

  • The requirements are for the standard equivalent to level 7.0 of the International Language Testing System, with no element below 6.5.
  • The test covers reading, writing, listening and speaking. Alternatively, the requirements for the Occupational English Test (OET), individuals must have no individual sub-test score below 300 and an overall minimum score 1400.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

  • An initial assessment of your knowledge, skills and behaviours will be undertaken as part of the process for determining eligibility for admission to the apprenticeship. This will include consideration of:
  • Prior education, training or associated qualifications in a related subject area, including any previous apprenticeships undertaken
  • Learning or competence gained from prior work experience.

Course details

To develop assistant practitioners within podiatry to:

  • Provide high-quality evidence-based care and promote the health and wellbeing of individuals
  • Act within the limits of competence as assistant practitioners within podiatry, following relevant legislation and standards and contributing to the maintenance of a safe and healthy working environment
  • Contribute to the ongoing assessment of individuals and effectively communicate with individuals
  • Promote multidisciplinary team working and support others through role-modelling, supervision, guidance and leadership
  • Promote an evidence-based approach to podiatry, participating in both quality improvement activity and individual continuous professional development activity
